A woman named Dory, walking home from the bank, was troubled to discover that her shadow had declined to follow her lead, according to a description posted by the Weird Darkness podcast.

The post states that Dory heard her mother's voice in her head and threw back her shoulders and lifted her chin. She then looked down, it says, to find her shadow "still hunched over like a dwarf." The listing does not say what became of the matter, though its title refers to a doppelganger encountered in a bar and grill.

The tale is "The Sinister Shadow," an episode of CBS Radio Mystery Theater that first aired on February 22, 1979. The program's schedule places it at roughly one minute thirty seconds into the broadcast, following the show open.

The episode is the headline item in a marathon collection running just over five hours. The chapter list names eleven further offerings, among them a 1948 Sam Spade adventure, a 1945 installment of The Shadow, and a 1944 Suspense production titled "Case History of Edgar Lowndes." Several are marked as remastered or cleaned up by Weird Darkness for easier listening.

Listeners are advised that audio quality may vary, and that the remastered episodes will sound better than the original files, though not necessarily pristine. The post offers no guidance for those whose own shadows are slouching.
