Couple Summons Prince Seere for Treasure Hunt, Returns With Army Backpack

An anonymous /x/ poster describes a anniversary cabin weekend of chalk circles, wine libations and a possessed girlfriend; the board's verdict is divided.

Strangeness 3 of 5

An anonymous poster on 4chan's /x/ board has offered an account of what it calls a first-anniversary getaway devoted to the Goetic arts. According to the post, the author, who describes themselves as an occultist, and their partner, a spirit medium, rented a cabin and spent the time reading grimoires.

The opening post states that the books listed several demons able to locate hidden treasure, and that the pair resolved to summon Prince Seere and have him speak through the medium. The author writes that they consulted astrological charts, drafted a contract, drew a protective circle in chalk and added a triangle meant to bind the spirit so that it could neither fly off nor turn the medium's body against them.

In replies attributed to the same account, the ritual proceeds with robes, incense, prayers, and the use of Seere's seal and names of God. The medium, according to the account, began writhing at once, and the spirit proved friendly and charming. The following day the couple walked the woods and found a car in a ditch where no car could have driven, along with a sink, a bathtub and a rusty chair. The treasure, as reported, turned out to be a US Army backpack. A second summoning followed to offer thanks, a further measure of wine, and a licence to depart, after which the couple watched Invader Zim.

Reaction among the thread's 33 replies was mixed and often unkind. Several commenters declared the tale invented, and one called the accompanying picture AI-generated. Others questioned whether a backpack was worthy of a demon's attention, and one suggested the demon had left it after harming a hiker, a claim for which the thread offers no evidence.

A few contributors turned to practical matters. One noted that the books demand costly equipment, including a lion-pelt belt, while another replied that substitutes might serve. A further commenter warned that possession is said to weaken the 'silver cord' linking astral and physical bodies. Others cautioned that such rituals attract unwanted attention. The author's anniversary, at least by their own telling, ended with a clean backpack and an empty bottle.
