Spinning Triangle Said to Cross Sky Above West Springfield RV Lot

A witness reported to NUFORC an object with lit triangular faces that flew a steady line overhead until it shrank to a speck; a UFO website's editor calls the shape very rare.

A man sitting in a recreational vehicle parking lot in West Springfield, Massachusetts, looked skyward on October 2 and, by his own account, beheld an object that he could not name. His report was filed with the National UFO Reporting Center, known as NUFORC, and was republished this week by the website UFO Sightings Daily under the heading of a triangle craft over an RV lot.

The eyewitness states that he was seated when he glanced up and saw the object flying straight ahead of him, very high in the sky. He describes it as having triangles on every side, with white lights upon them. According to the report, the object never stopped. It kept to one steady line across the camper parking lot until, in the witness's words, it became a speck in the distance. He adds that it appeared to be rotating rapidly.

The website's editor, Scott C. Waring, who reviewed what is described as video of the object, offers a somewhat different account of its shape. He writes that the craft is not a regular triangle but more diamond-like, and that its slow turning causes it to blur, which makes a clear screenshot difficult to obtain. By his estimate, the object spins about once every four to five seconds.

Mr. Waring further observes that he sees no LEDs on the craft. Instead, he writes, light seems to surround it, as though a static charge were causing the whole object to glow gently. He describes this shape of unidentified aerial phenomenon as very rare.

New Book Surveys England's Castles for Dangerous Ghosts and Forgotten Spirits

Historian Neil R. Storey's The Haunted Castles of England is said to catalogue apparitions and mysterious encounters within the nation's fortresses.

Strangeness 2 of 5

A new book by the historian Neil R. Storey turns its attention to the castles of England and to the persons, or presences, said to linger within them. According to a notice published by Spooky Isles, the volume, titled The Haunted Castles of England, reveals that the country's strongholds harbour dangerous apparitions, forgotten spirits and mysterious encounters.

The notice, which is brief, offers no further particulars. It names no individual castle, describes no specific apparition, and does not say what is meant by a ghost being dangerous. Readers hoping for details of the encounters in question are therefore referred, by implication, to the book itself.

From Cellar Stairs to Bathroom Mirrors: Weird Darkness Traces the Long Career of Bloody Mary

A podcast essay follows a Halloween divination game from a Scottish footnote through a tomcat in the cellar to a self-help bestseller, and asks who, if anyone, is answering.

Strangeness 2 of 5
Image: Weird Darkness

A Halloween divination ritual, a children's bathroom dare and a self-help phenomenon share a single structure, according to an essay published October 11 by the Weird Darkness podcast. Its author argues that all three rest on one idea: say the right words, believe hard enough, and the thing you asked for must appear.

The essay begins with Robert Burns, who printed the rules in a 1786 footnote to his poem "Halloween." A young woman, candle in hand, was to eat an apple before a looking glass and watch for her future husband's face over her shoulder. By the 1870s, the author writes, a cellar-stairs version, walked backward, was common enough for newspapers to joke about it.

Federation of Light Fields Reader's Questions on Pyramids, Codes and the Grieving Heart

In a channeled session published on Era of Light, Blossom Goodchild relays what she says are answers from a collective called the Federation of Light on activations, feelings and life after death.

Strangeness 2 of 5
Image: Era of Light

A channeled question-and-answer session posted on the website Era of Light on October 11 presents what its author, Blossom Goodchild, describes as the replies of the Federation of Light to a long-time follower's queries about pyramids, "codes" and activation.

Asked whether pyramids around the world are each seeking a code, the channeled message states that "awaiting" is the better word. Codes, it says, change within every living thing at every moment, but activations from pyramids or the sun are described as more profound, shifting the numbers dramatically in one "swoop". They are offered, the message says, as an overall upgrade. The message adds that souls do not need codes to be tracked by Source, for "IT IS YOU"; codes, it explains, merely keep the body active.

ANCIENT ENIGMAS

Skulls From Abydos Reopen the Case of the First Pharaohs' Retainers

A fresh look at skulls held at Cambridge suggests that at least 39 percent of those examined may have met violent ends beside Egypt's earliest royal tombs.

Strangeness 2 of 5

A reassessment of skulls taken from burials beside the First Dynasty royal tombs at Abydos indicates that members of the royal household may have been deliberately killed after the deaths of their kings, according to a report published on Ancient Pages. The study appears in the journal Frontiers in Environmental Archaeology.

The question is nearly a century old. Flinders Petrie, who excavated the graves in the 1920s, doubted that so many people buried around a single tomb could have died naturally at the same time. He found, however, no evidence of fatal wounds, and his theory of retainer sacrifice remained unproven.

ANCIENT ENIGMAS

Neanderthals Were Handy With Timber, Spanish Rock Shelter Suggests

Nearly 600 wooden remains and impressions from Abric Romaní include possible spears, a mace-like object and the makings of a kitchen platform, researchers report.

Strangeness 1 of 5

Neanderthals, long remembered chiefly for their stone tools, may have been accomplished woodworkers as well, according to a study published in Science Advances on October 7, 2026. The report, as summarized by The Debrief, concerns the Abric Romaní rock shelter near Barcelona.

Over four decades of excavation, the article states, archaeologists recovered 597 wooden remains and impressions from 16 archaeological levels dating to roughly 62,000 to 40,000 years ago. Researchers from IPHES-CERCA and Universitat Rovira i Virgili analyzed the collection. Their analysis suggests wood was not merely burned as fuel but was routinely made into tools and other objects.

NASA Backs Expedition to Plumb Mysterious Pit on the Moon

A project named GIMLI would combine radar, seismic and gravity instruments to learn whether the Marius Hills Pit leads to a lunar cave system.

Strangeness 1 of 5

A hole in the surface of the Moon, first found by Japan's Kaguya (SELENE) orbiter in 2009, is to receive renewed scientific attention, according to a report by T.K. Randall of Unexplained Mysteries, which cites Mail Online.

The feature, known as the Marius Hills Pit, can be seen from orbit some of the way down, the report states. This glimpse suggests it may be the entrance to a large underground cave, or even a whole subterranean network, though the report is careful to note that this remains conditional on a cave actually being present.

Reddit Enthusiasts Chart Course Through Rumors of Undersea Bases and Lurking Craft

A post on r/UFOs gathers congressional remarks, a 1989 film, a Baltic anomaly and a Bahamian naval facility into one theory of the deep.

Strangeness 2 of 5

A Reddit user posting to r/UFOs has assembled a short list of reading and viewing for those who suspect that the ocean floor harbors more than fish. The post, titled "Looking at Grusch comments on Deep Sea Bases," offers topics rather than conclusions, and leaves the reader to draw the lines between them.

According to the post, the survey begins with what the author calls Tim Burchett's "endless mentions of underwater activity." It then turns to the film The Abyss, which the post says is of interest because Mr. Grusch mentions it. The post does not say in what context he did so.

Ancient Reshuffling of Octopus Genome May Explain Eight-Armed Intellect, Vienna Study Suggests

University of Vienna researchers report that a sudden folding upheaval in cephalopod DNA, hundreds of millions of years ago, may have laid groundwork for their elaborate nervous systems.

Strangeness 1 of 5

Scientists at the University of Vienna have put forward a new account of how the octopus came by its remarkable mind, pointing to an ancient rearrangement in the way its genetic material is folded inside the cell. The study, according to The Debrief, appeared in Nature Communications on October 9, 2026.

The researchers examined the genomes of coleoid cephalopods, a group that takes in octopuses, squid and cuttlefish. These animals, the report notes, possess large and elaborate nervous systems with highly distributed neural networks, and octopuses in particular have shown notable problem-solving ability and a talent for rapid camouflage.

Anonymous Poster Says Unseen Entity Has Announced Comedian's Imminent Death

A /x/ user, who admits not knowing who the man is, reports a warning about Bert Kreischer and cites the entity's earlier notice of Val Kilmer's death.

Strangeness 3 of 5

An anonymous poster on 4chan's /x/ board claimed on October 10 that an entity which speaks to them has announced that comedian Bert Kreischer is "about to die," probably that same day. The post carries no evidence beyond the author's word.

The author writes that they had never heard of Mr. Kreischer and thought only "Who?" when told. On looking him up, they say, his health appeared to be in decline. The entity, the poster states, usually gives its notices minutes or hours before a death, or at the exact second of it.

Two Children on an Enclosed Porch Glimpse 1950s Street, Poster Says

A Reddit user recounts a childhood afternoon in which the sky turned orange, the cars changed, and a waving stranger appeared, all corroborated, the author says, by a cousin.

Strangeness 3 of 5

A Reddit user posting to r/Paranormal has described what the author calls the time they were "pulled into a different time period," an episode said to have occurred between 2005 and 2009, when the writer was between six and nine years old.

According to the post, the author and a cousin were playing on an enclosed, window-lined porch at the cousin's house on a bright summer afternoon. The author describes blue skies, a gentle wind and a calm street. The house, the writer adds, was the scene of "a lot" of strange encounters, and the author now believes it to have been a portal.

Sleep Paralysis Visitor Asks Poster 'Are You Bright?'; Board Convenes to Interpret

An anonymous poster on 4chan's /x/ seeks the meaning of a lone question put to them by an entity, and thirty-one respondents offer theories ranging from the theological to the vocational.

Strangeness 2 of 5

An anonymous poster on the paranormal board of 4chan has asked the assembled public for help with a puzzle that, by the poster's account, arrived unannounced during an episode of sleep paralysis: a demon inquired whether the poster was "bright," and said nothing further.

The author provided little additional detail. In a follow-up reply, the poster stated that they had twice asked the entity whether it was "with Jesus," received no answer on either occasion, and that it departed after the second asking. One respondent suggested this was akin to asking a frog its opinion of fast-food restaurants.
