A structure described as a doorway measuring three miles by one mile has been reported at the bottom of a crater on Mars, according to a post published October 12 by UFO Sightings Daily.

The author, Scott Waring, writes that he came across the feature on October 11 while using a new Mars map, which he identifies as an interactive project hosted at explore-mars.esri.com. He gives no coordinates, crater name or image description in the post as it appears here.

Mr. Waring states that the object looks very old, not thousands but millions of years, and appears to have been abandoned long ago. He suggests it may have served as an entrance to an underground city, where life could exist more easily than on the hot surface of the planet.

The author acknowledges that such inhabitants might not breathe oxygen, but argues that comfort remains a high priority for higher intelligent lifeforms. No supporting measurements or expert opinion are offered in the post.

The post does not discuss any conventional explanation for the feature. Readers wishing to inspect the matter for themselves are directed by the author to the map he cites.
