Tarot Reader's Missing Cards Reappear in Plain Sight, Then a Third Goes Astray

A professional reader writes that two cards lost for two weeks turned up beneath a bag of hair curlers, and that a third briefly vanished mid-reading.

Strangeness 2 of 5

A professional tarot reader has reported a run of disappearing cards, in a post to r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix on the popular forum Reddit. The author describes the episode as a glitch in the fabric of things and says it has left the reader baffled.

According to the post, the author favors one particular deck, with which a long relationship has been built, and uses it for video-call readings. After one such session, the author photographed the spread for a client as usual. Days later, at an event at a venue, two cards were found to be missing.

The author writes that the venue was searched, as was the home, including the floor, nearby boxes, and the undersides of a bed and couch. Nothing turned up. Cross-referencing the photograph, the author found the two cards had lain side by side in that last reading. One, the post says, means roughly "wait and see," while the other serves as a personal emblem of the author's tarot business.

About two weeks later, while tidying before another video call, the author reports spotting a sliver of card sticking out from beneath a bag, in a spot the author says had been visited two days earlier and searched thoroughly. Both cards, stuck together, were recovered. The author finds it hard to explain how they could have sat so visibly unnoticed.

The matter did not end there, according to the post. After that same call, a shuffled card allegedly flung itself from the deck and knocked another off the table. A search of the floor and a card-by-card check of the deck came to nothing. Later, while gathering cards for photographs, the author went through the deck again and found the missing card. It was the author's own signifier card, which the author describes as having materialized from thin air.

The post offers no explanation beyond the author's bewilderment, and no skeptic has weighed in within the text. The author closes by asking, in effect, how it keeps happening.
