NIGHT SOUNDS
Voice on Neighbouring Terrace Calls "Hey You" at 3 A.M., Then Echoes Reply
A Reddit user describes an overnight visit in which an unseen woman's voice summoned them across the dark and could answer only in repetition.
A SISTER'S TERRACE — A Reddit user posting to r/Paranormal reports an unsettling encounter at about 3 o'clock one morning while staying overnight at a sister's home. According to the post, the author was on a terrace speaking by telephone with a friend when a woman's voice drifted over from a neighbouring terrace.
The voice, the author writes, called out repeatedly: "Hey you," "You there," and "Hello, you." The author at first supposed a neighbour was annoyed by a late-night phone call and paid it no mind. Eventually the author looked toward the sound, found it too dark to see anyone, and walked closer. Still nobody was visible.
The author then answered with a single word, "What?" The voice, according to the post, replied "What." Asked "What happened?", it returned "What Happened." The voice sounded like an ordinary woman in her thirties or forties, the author says, but seemed unable to say anything of its own beyond echoing.
The friend on the line is said to have heard the exchange. When the author mentioned ending the call, the friend reportedly grew serious and asked that they stay connected. The author went downstairs and voiced the suspicion that it might be a ghost; the friend agreed that something seemed wrong, though neither could say what.
On returning to the terrace some minutes later, the author writes, the voice began calling again. The author concedes that it cannot be said whether the voice was responding to their presence. They went below once more and left the house at about 5 A.M.
The author offers no firm conclusion, wondering only whether something imitating human speech might be responsible, while admitting to having no way of knowing what produced the sound. No mundane explanation is given in the post.
