Federal Agents Report Silent Black Triangle Over Western Ridgeline
Pentagon records released Oct. 23 describe a matte-black object that rose, hovered and vanished at speed, yet leave its identity an open question.
WESTERN UNITED STATES — Newly released Pentagon documents describe an encounter in which two federal agents reported watching a black triangular object hover silently near a sensitive national security facility in the western United States before accelerating out of sight, according to a report from Unknown Country.
The account appears in records published Oct. 23, 2026, as part of the government's continuing disclosure of files on unidentified anomalous phenomena. The incident is said to have taken place in June 2026. The precise location has not been disclosed. The released material includes an FBI observation report and a memorandum for the record from the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, known as AARO.
According to the documents, the agents saw a nonreflective, matte-black triangle above a ridgeline shortly after sunset. They estimated its wingspan at 9 to 15 feet and likened its general appearance to that of a delta-wing drone. The object, they reported, climbed vertically some 200 to 300 feet without tilting or wobbling, then stopped abruptly and held position for about 20 seconds.
What followed was the most striking part of the account. The witnesses said the object accelerated rapidly and disappeared within seconds, producing no audible sound and no visible exhaust. The FBI account adds that, viewed through an infrared scope, the object appeared warmer than its surroundings and showed a relatively uniform thermal signature.
