Interstate Exit to Nowhere Leads Concertgoers to Gas Station Beyond the Map

A Reddit user says her boyfriend and a friend found a pristine, unlabelled, unpeopled filling station in 2017, and that no record of it exists.

A Reddit user posting to r/Paranormal has asked the public for help in identifying a gas station that, by her account, her boyfriend visited in 2017 and which neither of them has been able to locate since.

According to the post, the boyfriend and a friend were driving home on the interstate from a 2 Chainz concert in Raleigh when they noticed an exit for a gas station. The ramp curved down a slope and ended at the station alone: a street light, a dumpster behind the building, and a road running both ways into what was described as a wall of black. The author writes that there were no power lines, and that the road they had come from could no longer be seen.

The details grew stranger at close quarters. The pump was reportedly smooth, with a printed picture of a button where a button should be, and a blank screen. No other cars or people were in sight. Inside, the lights were on but the counter stood empty. The shelves, the post says, held snacks with no labels that were evidently meant to pass for familiar brands such as Doritos.

The author states that both men felt a bad gut feeling at the same moment. The friend, she writes, had walked around the canopy and found he could see nothing beyond the station, and was coming to suggest leaving just as the boyfriend reached the same view. On departing, they found a single road back, running beside the one they had arrived on. At home, according to the post, they could find no such exit.

The author reports that online searches turn up only a creepypasta written in 2025, accounts of prop gas stations built for films, and posts by urban explorers about abandoned sites. She dismisses the prop theory, noting the place was modern, seemingly well kept, and wholly isolated. Someone else had suggested a mock-up of a real station, which she finds puzzling given the empty surroundings.

The post closes with a plea for anyone who has seen the place or had a similar experience to come forward. As of publication, the author had no solution to offer, and the exit remains unlisted.
