Meditator Reports Visit From 'Future Self' Bearing Five Words of Comfort

A Reddit user on r/Experiencers says a voice resembling their own spoke at their ear during a deep meditation, echoing a message they had long sent backward in time.

Strangeness 2 of 5

A Reddit user posting to r/Experiencers has described what they believe may have been a visit from their own future self, delivered during a daily meditation session and consisting of a single reassurance.

According to the post, the author endured roughly five years of stress, grief, depression and poverty. When matters improved, they began a private habit: mentally telling their earlier, struggling self that it would all turn out well. The author says they did this lightheartedly, doubting it could work but wishing that it might.

The past four months, the writer reports, have brought another severe difficulty. The one thing carrying them through, the post states, is a daily hour-and-a-half holosync meditation, which they call the only thing keeping them sane.

A few days ago, the author writes, while lying on their bed with headphones on and the mind quiet, they became aware of someone walking the length of the bed and kneeling beside them. A voice then spoke into the ear, saying it was okay and that it would be alright. The author insists the voice was their own, heard clearly over the headphones from outside themselves. Being deep in meditation, they did not open their eyes, and the event passed too quickly for any reaction.

The writer describes themselves as very sceptical by temperament, yet offers a reason for suspecting the voice's origin: the phrasing. The post says most people would say something longer, such as that everything will be okay, whereas "it's okay" is the author's own habitual turn of phrase.

The author concludes that the message may have been a future self returning the favour, and resolves to repeat the practice once the present hardship lifts, since there is, in their words, no harm in it. They add that they begin each session with protective visualisations and statements, and so believe nothing negative came through. No other explanation is offered in the post.
