FROM THE FUTURE
Masked Man Claims CIA Sent Him to 2118, Returns With Tidings of War and Better Manners
A self-described time traveller calling himself Alexander Smith tells a YouTube channel that a third world war lies ahead, followed by an improved world.
THE INTERNET — A man in a humanoid latex mask, who gives his name as Alexander Smith, has appeared again on the YouTube channel ApexTV, according to the Daily Star. He claims he took part in secret Central Intelligence Agency experiments in 1981 that sent him forward to the year 2118.
Mr. Smith says that after an earlier video and a second interview, in which he showed what he described as a photograph taken in 2118, he has decided to share every detail of his experience. He says the public ought to know about coming changes and about secret technologies he alleges are being withheld.
His forecast, as reported, is a sobering one. He says a conflict of interests between the United States and North Korea will begin small and spread, with Russia siding with North Korea and missiles eventually being fired. He declined to say where they landed, remarking only that the effects were not desirable.
Yet the account ends on a hopeful note. According to Mr. Smith, the confrontation drew the world together, borders lost their meaning, and people developed a love of life that discouraged harm to their neighbours. He describes the result as a better world, and the war as one some might call the Third World War.
The future he describes holds vast cities, artificial intelligence robots, flying vehicles and extraterrestrial beings, and he says the U.S. government will one day disclose intelligent alien life. The Daily Star notes that there is virtually no credible evidence for any of this. It adds that physicist Gary Horowitz of the University of California, Santa Barbara, suggests time travel is not entirely implausible and does not violate established scientific principles.
