Former Raider Claims Damascus Files Listed Registered Vampires
A Reddit user says he photographed more than thirty stamped documents before being ordered to burn the rest, and has now been advised by a relative to go public.
DAMASCUS, SYRIA — A Reddit user posting to r/Thetruthishere has claimed to have discovered, in the wake of the fall of the Assad government, a trove of official papers concerning "active vampires" in Syria. The post, titled "Syrian government evidence on vampires," was published on October 7.
According to the author, he took part in raids on several government buildings in Damascus after the president was toppled. There, he writes, he found numerous documents recording the registrations and identity papers of the alleged creatures, along with their designations, names and movements.
The files, the poster says, went further still. They are described as listing each subject's social circle, manner of living, places of residence past and present, and fields of study. The author adds that they also contained apparent correspondence between the vampires and "societies" in other nations.
The author states that he and his fellow raiders were ordered to burn everything, and that he could therefore keep no originals. He says he retains more than thirty mostly legible photographs of documents bearing official stamps. None of these images, nor any translation or transcription, was included in the post as scraped.
The writer concludes on a modest note, saying he did not know where to share the material after holding it for two years, and that a younger family member suggested Reddit. No independent corroboration of the claims was offered, and no officials have been cited as confirming that any such registry existed.
