FROM THE BOARDS
Anonymous Poster Warns Public Figures May Be Government-Released Extraterrestrials
A thread on 4chan's /x/ board draws 38 replies, ranging from skepticism to speculation about gait, symmetry and survivability.
4CHAN /X/ — An anonymous poster on 4chan's /x/ board has issued what the author calls a warning: that the United States government is slowly releasing extraterrestrial beings into public life. The author concedes the claim sounds ridiculous, and asks readers to hear them out before the post is, in their expectation, removed from the Internet.
According to the post, the information comes from acquaintances with high-ranking government jobs, who in turn know people who "know things." The author adds that nobody knows who these people are. No documents, names or evidence were offered.
The alleged strategy, as the author describes it, is one of gentle preparation. Since frequent interactions between Earth and a particular extraterrestrial race are said to be nearing public exposure, officials supposedly place people who resemble the creatures in the limelight, perhaps as a joke or a meme, so that eventual disclosure causes no panic. Viewers are told that anyone who does not look like a person may not be one.
Replies were varied. One poster objected on logical grounds, noting that announcing aliens had lived among us for years, some perhaps as public figures, would more likely breed paranoia than calm. Another argued that interstellar visitors would possess technology so advanced that humanity would resemble apes in an exhibit. Others speculated about the strength of the supposed beings, or whether they would survive a shot to the head. One asked, simply, what could be done if it were true.
The thread also drew a fair share of crude remarks, personal quarrels and unrelated video links, and some replies named specific public figures in unkind terms. This newspaper declines to repeat them. At the time of writing, no extraterrestrial had come forward to comment.
