Disk-Shaped Cloud Over Capital Prompts Talk of Cloaked Craft

A photograph posted to X and a commentary on UFO Sightings Daily suggest the formation may be an alien vessel disguised as weather.

A photograph of a strikingly round, disk-shaped cloud over Washington, D.C., has drawn the attention of a UFO news site, which reported on October 19 that the sighting dates to October 17.

According to the site, a person on the social platform X posted the image, captioned, in the eyewitness's words, "Our spaceship has arrived (over downtown DC)." The site's account holds that the poster was not joking but was, in its phrasing, subconsciously concerned about the object's existence.

The commentary, signed by Scott C. Waring, argues that public opinion is shifting toward the view that such disks are cloaked alien craft posing as clouds. Washington, it suggests, would be an attractive destination for visitors wishing to listen telepathically to the minds of intelligence workers, calling the city an "intelligence playground."

The author further claims that clouds which vanish within seconds of being noticed are reacting to detection by the ship's onboard artificial intelligence, which cloaks itself when observed. By this reasoning, the writer says, an observer who sees such a cloud has telepathically controlled the vessel and forced it into hiding.

The post offers no meteorological explanation. Readers inclined toward the mundane may note that the piece presents no measurements or corroborating witnesses beyond the single photograph, and that clouds of unusual shape are a familiar feature of the sky. The disk, for its part, is understood to have dispersed as clouds do.
