Childhood 'Dream' of Pod-Filled Metal Room Recast as Abduction After Documentary Binge
A Reddit user in r/Experiencers says a memory from roughly 1985 to 1987 matches accounts gathered by ufologist Budd Hopkins, and is awaiting a library book to check.
NORTH OF BOSTON, MASS. — A Reddit user posting to r/Experiencers reports that a vivid memory from early childhood, long filed away as a dream, may in fact have been an abduction. The author says a run of UFO documentaries prompted a fresh look at the recollection, and that the results left them "completely shaking."
According to the post, the author was between three and five years old, placing the event around 1985 to 1987. The author recalls waking in bed in great terror. In the memory, a tall, unclothed being led the child into a metallic room with rounded walls, where dozens of pods were stacked in rows to the ceiling.
Each pod, the writer says, held a hairless, translucent-skinned figure suspended in fluid. The figures were vaguely human, neither adult nor small child, and in retrospect resembled a fetus in a womb. The author recalls walking through the room, stepping through a doorway of bright white light, and waking in bed. No one was told, the post says, and the scene was replayed in the mind for years.
The author adds that the 1999 film The Matrix, with its incubation pod scenes, brought back the same paralyzing fear. The post does not address the possibility that imagery from the film and the memory influenced one another, nor does it offer any outside corroboration of the childhood event.
The writer says that research points to Budd Hopkins, a pioneering ufologist, whose 1987 book Intruders is said to record similar nursery rooms. The author claims to have read that the book contains witness sketches of fluid-filled pods, but has been unable to find the images online. A library copy has been ordered and is expected in about a week.
The post closes with two requests: for anyone who has seen the sketches, and for others with comparable childhood memories or case files describing the same layout. In an edit, the author notes having lived just north of Boston. No replies were included in the material reviewed.
