HOUSEHOLD MYSTERIES
Homeowner Finds Pile of Suspected Human Teeth in Attic After Four Years of Residence
A man who believes his house is haunted has decided to leave the find undisturbed and consult the local historical society.
THE INTERNET — A homeowner who has lived for nearly four years in a house said to date from 1900 has reported an unwelcome discovery in his attic: a pile of what he believes are human teeth. According to the Daily Star, he described the find in a post on Reddit.
The man writes that he came upon the teeth while moving furniture to fetch down decorations. He says he had not noticed them before. He also suspects the house is older than its stated date, since the neighbouring houses are, in his words, older than that.
The author states that he has long been convinced a ghost shares the property, and that tragic events in each of the past two autumns have led him to suspect a link to the teeth. He worries that moving them might anger whatever spirits are present, adding that he realises he may sound unreasonable.
Seeking reassurance, he contacted the previous owner. In an update, the man reports that the former owner bought the house in 2005, found the teeth some years after moving in, and also suspected they were human. That owner had bought from a landlord who rented the house out, suggesting the teeth have lain there for a very long time.
Some commenters evidently suggested the pile was merely dirt, a notion the author rejects. He notes that the attic is unfinished and uninsulated, and insists the objects are indeed teeth.
The author describes himself as a believer in spirits and protective charms, and says he prefers to think someone placed the teeth there as a ward. For now they will remain in their corner of the attic. This weekend, he says, he will visit his town's historical society to learn more of the house's past.
