A Georgia man who told a 911 operator that aliens had abducted his mother was sentenced on Friday, October 30th, to ten years in confinement, the most the law allows for his offense, according to a roundup published by Weird Darkness.

According to the report, Jason Campbell placed the call on January 7th, 2025. His mother, Marie Campbell, had been reported missing the day before. Her car sat outside the shared home on Bennett Road, and her purse, identification and phone remained inside. Her daughter said publicly that her mother never went anywhere without her ID and purse.

The account reportedly changed the next day. Campbell told a deputy his mother had been picked up from the house by an unknown subject. Deputies, the report says, found a small fire in the backyard, what appeared to be a burned mattress, and a vehicle seat draped with a mud-covered sheet.

Campbell was arrested in February 2025 and charged with concealing the death of a person. After a five-day trial in Banks County Superior Court, a jury found him guilty. The district attorney said in a news release that the State presented evidence he concealed the death by burning her body in January 2025. The release credited a multi-agency investigation including the GBI and the FBI.

He was never charged with killing her, and no cause or manner of death has been made public. Authorities have not said whether further charges are coming.
