A Reddit user says the AfD has filed a written query demanding to know who in Berlin is responsible for logging strange things in the sky.

The question of unidentified aerial phenomena has reached the German federal legislature, according to a Reddit user posting to r/UFOs, who reports that the AfD party has submitted a formal parliamentary inquiry on the subject.

The document, cited as Drucksache 21/8323, is titled "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) as a subject of air and space surveillance," the post states. It takes the form of a "Kleine Anfrage," which the author describes as a procedure obliging the federal government to deliver a written response within a couple of weeks.

The inquiry reportedly asks three broad questions. First, which federal agency is responsible for logging and analyzing UAP reports. Second, whether standardized guidelines or official terms, such as "unidentifiable contacts," exist for civil and military aviation. Third, what protocol applies when a military pilot or air traffic controller observes something unusual.

According to the post, the inquiry argues that Germany can no longer ignore the matter, pointing to the United States having formalized military and bureaucratic structures, such as AARO, in recent years. Airspace safety and defense are said to be the principal arguments advanced.

The author expects the government's reply in late October or early November 2026 and promises to share the official answers once published. A link to the document on the Bundestag's server was provided. The post offers no indication of what the government might say, and the reply, as is the way with such papers, may be brief.
