Toronto Subway Doors Open on Wrong Side at Davisville, Commuter Reports
A Reddit user says a routine ride on Line 1 briefly departed from the known order of things, before normal service resumed at St. Clair.
TORONTO, ONT. — A commuter on Toronto's Line 1 subway has reported a morning journey in which, according to the post, the doors opened on the wrong side of the train. The account was submitted by a Reddit user to r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix under the title "Toronto glitch in the matrix."
The author writes that the route to work was known by heart, heading toward Vaughan. After leaving Eglinton Station, the train's doors opened on the left side first. The traveller stood in the middle of the car facing the right-hand doors, expecting Davisville to be announced, as always, with the words that the doors would open on the right.
Instead, the post says, the announcement stated that the doors would open on the left. When the train stopped, the author turned to find a platform behind them, with passengers boarding from that side. To the right, the writer says, there was nothing but empty railway tracks.
The author describes being stunned, with the hair on their arms standing on end, and says they were certain they were on the correct train and route. The doors then closed, and the announcement for the next stop, St. Clair, reportedly returned to form, with doors opening on the right. According to the post, every station thereafter, through Summerhill, Bloor-Yonge and Wellesley, followed the usual pattern.
The writer concludes that they still cannot account for the episode and remain certain of what they experienced. The post offers no explanation, mundane or otherwise, and Paranormal Daily has not independently confirmed the matter. Readers of a practical turn of mind may wish to consult the Toronto Transit Commission; those of a more speculative turn are directed to the original thread.
