Stargazers in Sedona Report Epcot-Shaped Object Wearing Rainbow Halo

A Reddit user says binoculars revealed color-shifting lights, one resembling a Florida theme-park landmark, over the Arizona red rocks.

Strangeness 2 of 5

A night of stargazing in Sedona took an unexpected turn on Thursday, according to a Reddit user posting to r/HighStrangeness, who reports having come across "some interesting things in the sky" while sweeping the heavens with binoculars.

The most striking of these, the author writes, was an object that looked "kind of like Epcot," apparently a reference to the spherical landmark at the Florida theme park. It was said to be surrounded by a rainbow-colored glow. The poster adds that the separate colors could be made out through the binoculars, which would seem to rule out a trick of the naked eye, though the post offers no further detail.

Other objects in the sky were also said to change colors. According to the account, they mostly held their positions, moved about now and again in small ways, and at length vanished from view.

The author describes a second sighting as well: two bright lights positioned side by side. These reportedly hung motionless for a time before drifting off to the right in what the poster calls somewhat erratic movement, finally disappearing behind a mountain.

The poster does not claim to know what was seen, and the post's title confesses as much. No photographs, times, or compass bearings are given, and no explanation has been offered. Readers wishing to form a view may note that twinkling stars and planets viewed low on the horizon are commonly known to flicker through several colors, though the author does not say whether this was considered.
