Silver-Haired Nurse Vanishes From Hospital Corridor After Half-Hour Chat
A Reddit user says an elderly woman with a cane, who appeared to recall working in a demolished building, was gone within seconds of a farewell.
A HOSPITAL, UNDISCLOSED — A Reddit user posting to r/Paranormal reports having spent roughly thirty minutes in conversation with a woman who may not have been of this world, during a long wait for news of a brother in surgery.
According to the post, the brother had dislocated and broken his ankle in two places and faced added risk because of a weak heart. The author, anxious, wandered the hospital and stopped at a wall describing its history, which the post says began as a nursing school before growing into a large modern institution.
There, the author writes, an elderly woman with a cane and striking long silver-white hair began chatting about history and architecture. She said she had been a nurse in the original building, which the post says was demolished and relocated. Pointing to a photograph of the old hospital in mid-demolition, she is quoted as saying she had worked on the third floor. At a glass case of old uniforms, she allegedly remarked that one was hers. The author notes the building was demolished in the 1980s and that the uniform dated to the early 1940s, which made the claim seem impossible.
The woman then asked who was operating on the brother and spoke well of a particular doctor. When the author took leave, she answered, "God Bless you, I'm sure he will be ok." The author says that after walking about ten feet and glancing back, she was gone. The post states that, given her cane and slow pace, she could not have reached anywhere out of sight in the time available.
The author, who received word shortly afterward that the brother was out of surgery, asks readers whether the experience was simply delusion, acknowledging that anxiety was running high. Whatever the explanation, the post concludes, the encounter supplied thirty minutes of welcome calm.
