Guitar Strums Itself in Silent Living Room; Ladybug Named, Then Doubted, as Suspect
A Reddit user says an untouched guitar sounded several strings twice in one night, leaving her frozen for a quarter of an hour.
THE INTERNET — A Reddit user posting to r/Paranormal has asked the public for help in explaining how a guitar in her living room appeared to play itself shortly before bedtime, according to a post published this week.
The author writes that the room was dark and quiet, with only rock displays lit. She heard the instrument give a light strum, and she stresses that it was not one string but several. She adds that she does not play, and that the guitar belongs to her fiance, who has kept it in the same spot for years. Nothing like it, she says, has happened before.
By her own account, fear held her motionless for at least fifteen minutes while she hunted for a sensible cause. She eventually looked up at the guitar and settled on a ladybug she had noticed on the ceiling above it, reasoning that the insect had somehow brushed three strings.
The theory did not hold. According to the post, the sound came again the moment she looked away from the instrument. She then retreated to her bedroom, where she writes that she still cannot make sense of it, and she closed her message with a plea for help.
The post offers no recording, and no commenters' explanations were included in the material reviewed. Readers inclined toward the mundane may consider the ladybug theory the author herself found wanting; the guitar, for its part, has made no statement.
