Motorist's Diesel Car Briefly Becomes Petrol Car at Ujjain Fuel Station

UJJAIN, INDIA — A Reddit user posting to r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix has described what he calls an inexplicable episode at a petrol station in central India, which he says occurred about three months before he wrote. The author states that it took him considerable time and courage to set it down.

According to the post, the man has driven a Hyundai i20 for five years and has always filled it with diesel, having chosen it for economical long-distance travel. He had been to the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, where he met a sadhu outside who was asking for money and blessing visitors. The author writes that something strange and eerie hung about the man, and that he accepted the blessing nonetheless.

On the way back to his hotel, the motorist stopped for fuel. When the attendant asked whether he wanted petrol or diesel, he answered diesel. At that moment, the post says, something bright flashed in his eyes, and the attendant politely observed that the car ran on petrol.

The author reports that the fuel cap said petrol, as did the owner's manual and the registration card. He also says the seat colours had shifted slightly and that the car, which he recalled parking on the right of the pump, now stood on the left. The salesman's contact, with whom he had discussed an insurance claim days earlier, was missing from his phone.

Then, he writes, the flash came again. The attendant now demanded payment for 21 litres of diesel and could recall no conversation about petrol. The author insists it was around 2 PM, that he was neither drunk nor intoxicated, and that he was tired but accustomed to long drives.

Friends and family, he says, believe he was dreaming. He closes by inviting fellow Redditors to share their thoughts on similar incidents. The Daily notes that no corroboration accompanied the post, and that the author's own relatives favour the dream explanation.
