UFO Whistleblower Said to Join Congressman's Staff to Assist on UAP Work

A Reddit post cites a news report that Jake Barber is now working for Rep. Eric Burlison, with a spokesman said to have confirmed the arrangement.

Strangeness 1 of 5

A post on the r/UFOs forum announced this week that Jake Barber, a figure known in the UFO community as a whistleblower, has joined the staff of Rep. Eric Burlison to assist with work on unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAP.

The post, headed with the word "CONFIRMED," is brief. According to its text, Burlison spokesman Nate Lucas confirmed the arrangement to PARADIGM, a news outlet. The author directs readers to a fuller account in that outlet's newsletter, Signs of Life, and supplies a link.

The post itself offers no details about Mr. Barber's title, the terms of his employment, the start date or the specific duties he is expected to perform. Those particulars, if they exist, appear to lie behind the link and were not reproduced in the post.

Nor does the post include any comment from Mr. Barber himself, or any skeptical view of the appointment. Readers who wish to assess the claim are advised, as ever, to consult the original report rather than the forum summary of it.

The announcement, such as it is, adds one more entry to the long and tangled correspondence between the nation's legislators and the community of persons who study the unexplained.
