Orb Performs Encore Over Porch Tree For Mushroom Hiker and Sober Companion

A Reddit user in r/Experiencers recounts a garlic-patch egg craft and a later, theatrically timed orb of light.

Strangeness 3 of 5

A Reddit user posting to r/Experiencers has shared two accounts linking unidentified aerial phenomena with psilocybin mushrooms, and invited readers to offer their own thoughts and experiences. The author says there have been many other sightings in a lifetime, and even some footage, but that the second tale is a personal favourite.

The first episode, according to the post, began at a garlic patch just after daybreak, as the author met a co-worker. The author writes of seeing a white, egg-like craft sitting silently in the sky. Fearing a poor first impression, the author said nothing, and by the time of a second glance it had vanished. By coincidence, the same co-worker gave the author some mushrooms that evening. The ensuing weekend trip was, the author says, cheerful, and ended in vivid closed-eye visuals, including an "incomprehensibly vast octopus-god."

The second episode took place some years later at a cabin in the bush, surrounded by farmland. The author says the mushrooms were gathered after rain, a rare find that took months to accumulate. A partner, entirely sober, served as trip-sitter. The trip was mild, without visuals, and chiefly given to lighthearted conversation.

At its peak, the author reports, a grid appeared across the sky. An orb of light then flew behind a large tree opposite the porch and vanished, twice, to the partner's repeated denials. The author concedes having wondered whether it was merely a hallucination, though it felt real.

On the third appearance the orb allegedly rose slowly in an arc over the tree, as if asking whether it was now seen. This time, the author states, the partner saw both the orb and the sky grid. The author thanked it profusely, and described its humour as genuine and perfectly timed. No explanation beyond the author's own tentative doubt was offered.
